Show and tell

Hello again. I just wanted to update with a few random pieces I have created.

a) An invite to a housewarming party that my roommate and I threw when we moved. We both love hotdogs, thus the hotdog hoedown.

b) A drawing inspired by a man I met in Uganda. His name is Sunday and despite many trials (i.e. losing his wife and fifth child during child birth, losing his mother to AIDS, raising his brother’s two children after his brother passed away) he radiated joy more than any individual I met there. He encouraged me to draw and use my art for good and one day return to Africa..

c) A painting representing where I find myself in life and faith these days. “A tree gives glory to God by being a tree. For in being what God means it to be it is obeying Him. It “consents,” so to speak, to His creative love. It is expressing an idea which is in God and which is not distinct from the essence of God, and therefore a tree imitates God by being a tree. The more a tree is like itself, the more it is like Him. If it tried to be like something else which it was never intended to be, it would be less like God and therefore it would give Him less glory. … This particular tree will give glory to God by spreading out its roots in the earth and raising its branches into the air and the light in a way that no other tree before or after it ever did or will do.” – Thomas Merton

d) A painting reflecting my opinion on our culture’s destruction of beauty. Always measuring and comparing.. and cutting deep wounds.
